Hiring a contractor shouldn’t feel like a gamble. The right questions up front can save you from costly mistakes, ghosted timelines, and work that looks like your cousin did it after a YouTube binge. Here are five questions to ask before hiring a flooring contractor:

1. Are you licensed and insured?
If the answer is anything other than “yes and yes,” run. This protects you if something goes wrong—not just them. No paperwork = no peace of mind.
2. What’s your specialty?
You want a pro, not a “handyman who can kinda do floors.” We specialize in hardwood flooring and staircases. That’s what we do, and we do it exceptionally well. Look for someone who lives and breathes the work you’re hiring them for.
3. What’s included in the estimate—and what’s not?
Surprise charges are the worst. Sure things can come up during any renovation project, and if they do, you should be notified asap and agree to any changes or costs. Make sure you know if things like demo, cleanup, trim work, or furniture moving are included. (Spoiler: We offer turn-key service, so you don’t have to worry about all that.)
4. What’s your cleanup process?
If their answer is “We sweep,” prepare to live in a dust bowl. Our crew cleans as we go and keeps disruption to a minimum. It’s your home, not a jobsite war zone.
5. Can I see your past work or talk to a client?
A solid contractor should have a portfolio and happy clients willing to vouch for them. Ask. We’ve got receipts—just say the word.
Bottom line:
Ask these 5 questions before hiring a flooring contractor. Trust your gut. And work with people who communicate and treat your home like their own.
